Pepperell Service Station and Cafe

The text under the above image reads:
For many years the Pepperell Service Station and Cafe operated on Pepperell Parkway in Opelika next to the school.  It was torn down last year to make way for new commercial development.  Mrs. M. R. Gilmer was the manager and it was a happening place to be, especially during breakfast.  From left are Cliff Smith, Edward Bryant, Tommy Haddox, Earl Haddox, Bill Van Patten, J. H. Vickers, unknown, John Lynch, Dan Lott, unknown, Frank Bennett, Cecil Ray and E. W. Robinson.  The photo is from the Henry Stern collection and was donated to him by Cliff Smith.  If you have old Photos for "The Way We Were," drop them by The Eagle on Tichenor Avenue in downtown Auburn and we'll process them while you wait.

I received an email from Sandra Manning indicating that the man on the right with his hands on his hips may be Mr. Cecil Stowe.
