God gives us our talents, what we do with them is up to us…….Jess Akins,
looking for something to occupy his time in his retirement, came up with the idea to create a website to honor his 1952 graduating
class of Henry G. Clift High School located in the heart of Opelika, Alabama. And…that he did!
He put his talents to work and created not only a place for his classmates to post pictures and announcements, to honor
the memory of deceased classmates, and reminisce about years long gone by….but later expanded it to include current
goings on and happenings of long ago related to his former hometown and also included memories of the old Pepperell Village
as well. I would say this is a masterpiece of history of a place we all hold very dearly in our hearts.
He set about to collect many, many old pictures and articles of interest to folks who still live in Opelika and
also to many of those who have long since moved away to other parts of the country or world. I say
“thank you Jess” for a magnificent job of creating and putting together so much wonderful history.
