Pepperell Kids Reunion 2013
2013 annual Pepperell Kids reunion was held on a cold and rainy Saturday on May 4. A total of 175 folks had committed
to being there and 162 of them braved the weather to join in celebrating another year.
George and Janet opened their
home on Lake Martin to try to make everyone as comfortable as possible and as usual they did a wonderful job of hosting this
As George wrote in his update to everyone after the party...."I guess I just don't give my fellow Pepperell
Kids enough credit...you were able to surprise us with your desire to be with other 'kids' for the day. Little did
I know that 162 or so folks would actually show up due to the very bad weather, along with its inconveniences, in stride....and
we think everyone had a great time".
A buffet barbecue was enjoyed along with gospel music by the English
Family, also Pepperell Kids.
Special guests this year were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Buxton of the East Alabama Museum.
Glenn gave an update on the Pepperell Memorial that will soon be constructed at the museum site at the corner of South 9th
St. and Avenue A in Opelika.
Kids from age 50 to 98 enjoyed the day despite the weather. Those traveling from out
of state to attend were Wayne and Amy Land from South Korea; James and Pat Veasey and Mary Ann Hatchett from California and
Mrs. Lexie Carroll from South Carolina.
