Welcome to all and especially those of you who attended school in Opelika, Alabama.

Several years ago, when I started this website, it was for the Clift High School Class of 1952.  Since there are only about 55 of us still around and and most classmates seldom visit the Website, I decided to purchase a new Domain Name that better represents the visitors and not just one class. The new Domain Name is, http://www.opelika36801.org. The old Domain Name will continue to work until it expires. However, there will always be a special place dedicated to the Class of 1952.

The vast majority of our visitors are people who grew up in Opelika, Alabama, and have since moved away. They live all over the USA and even some in Europe.  They visit the streets and places where they grew up and played, shopped, worked and generally had fun as only the young can.  I hear from them all the time, I call them “Opelika Expatriates”. They tell me how much they enjoy the website, the images and the stories.  Some attended school or lived in Opelika as early as the 1930’s and as late as the 1990’s.

The majority of the 1000 or so images were provided by two people, Henry Stern and Jeaneen Chaffin.  Henry was in the Class of 1950 and is considered by many to be the “Official Opelika Historian”.  Jeaneen Ware Chaffin was in the Class of 1954, and married James Chaffin from the Class of 1952.  Jeaneen helps me by editing all of the mistakes that I make when publishing new pages.

There have been six schools that were used as High Schools in Opelika, Alabama.  You will find images of Opelika High Schools on the Opelika's Public Schools and the Opelika High Schools pages.  The only school image on this page is the Clift High School.
NOTE: OPELIKA PRIVATE SCHOOLS has recently been added to the website.
